Skin ageing
Wrinkles and fine lines, sagging skin, loss of firmness: over the years, time leaves its mark on the skin. This doesn’t necessarily jeopardise our beauty capital, but it’s clear that it’s changing! Although skin ageing cannot be stopped, it’s possible to slow down or reduce the visible signs through simple gestures. Let's take a look at what happens in our skin when we talk about ageing.
What is skin ageing?
Like the rest of our body, the skin is subject to the effects of time. These effects are reflected in a whole range of phenomena that start earlier than we think. The skin gradually loses its radiance and firmness, wrinkles appear and then deepen... That's the bad news. The good thing about
Skin senescence
Originally, our skin has a capacity to renew itself every 28 days. Gradually, this process is extended to more than 30 days. The oldest cells accumulate, the sebaceous glands play their role less well, the number of melanocytes (responsible for skin pigmentation) decreases... This is the skin's ageing process, also known as senescence.
So when does it start? Even if it isn’t noticeable, this process starts in your twenties (yes, that early!). And from the age of 30 onwards, the first signs of time can appear in the form of fine lines.
Wrinkles: markers of skin ageing
When we think of skin ageing, we first think of wrinkles. And it’s true that these are the most obvious manifestations!
So where do they come from? There is not one but several factors that explain the appearance of wrinkles. Internal factors (genes, oxidative stress, etc.) and external factors (sun, tobacco, pollution, poor hydration, etc.).
Don't worry, you can do something about it!
A FEW WORDS FROM OUR EXPERT
Our body and skin are made up of a high proportion of water, which is essential for the cell and skin renewal cycle. Moisturising the skin is therefore essential. It is the first weapon against premature ageing and the basis of all anti-ageing care. Moisture is the key to beautiful skin and the key to slowing down the visible effects of time.
Other signs of skin ageing
Wrinkles are not the only visible signs of the passing of time. The slowing metabolism of the skin cells combined with certain external agents (like the sun) express themselves in other ways. The complexion loses its radiance, the skin loses its elasticity. Hyaluronic acid and collagen become scarcer. The result? The tissue becomes slack. As if that weren’t enough, these signs are accompanied by dry skin.
Of course, you can’t slow down time, but it’s never too late to act on the visible signs. Your watchword: prevention!

OUR ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS
We’re here to help you sort fact from fiction
The sun is public enemy number one. While the sun has many health benefits (especially for your mood), it also has some negative effects. Especially if you abuse it. In fact, UV rays increase the rate of skin cell degradation compared to construction. The skin is then less resistant.
Same thing. Cigarettes break down hyaluronic acid, causing the production of bad elastin.
Dehydration is one of the major factors in skin ageing. Moisturising your skin helps to maintain its elasticity.
